So – thinking I had a brilliant idea of using large corn starch packing peanuts for making Buck a dig box/ play box/ ball pit I put it down and threw in a carrot, he grabbed the carrott and ate it then he went back and ate the peanuts. It looks like he has no interest in playing with them he just eats them. JT watched him eat like 2 or 3 and then just had to take away all of them because he just chews and chews them. So are they bad for him? He really likes them, but I was thinking I could get those things that they sell at petsmart like rice cake kinda things. My rodents have always loved them but not as much as Buck likes the packing peanuts. Maybe I could just get a couple and throw them in there?

But maybe just using shredded paper would be the best idea. I don’t want him filling up on crap just to not eat his food. Or maybe I should do a dig box with just shredded paper?

        Thoughts and ideas?

I wouldn’t give those to him. Chances are he would eat them, and while they may not be harmful, they don’t provide any nutritional value. Paper is safer.

They are usually corn based, so they are on the not good list. I agree its a bummer though!

Yeah I would imagine that’s asking for a blockage. shredded paper is just as fun though You can crumple the paper too to make it more fun

A thick yellow pages has soybased safe ink, and you get a lot of paper to shred in one book.

Also, just giving him a phone book can be a toy: shredding, tearing, digging through pages. Let him go at it, then toss the shreds in a box later on.
