I’m realizing now I don’t know what to expect from bonded rabbits?

Do they sleep together all the time?

Do they always groom each other?

Samson is grooming Lady to the point where poor Ladys eye has a little bare spot

They had like, 5 hours of time straight together yesterday, only to have a fur flying rabbit scuffle at the end. I put them together immediately after I checked them over (no major damage, a small bare spot on Sam, and a little nick on the base of Ladys ear) and Sam went back to grooming Lady right after, so no hard feelings I guess. I *think* it was caused by Samsons overgrooming and then since they were on the hardwood they couldnt grip the floor and run away so they kinda clung to each other.

They both flop within a 10×10 ft space, but not always right next to each other. Lots of cleaning in front of each other, they eat together without fighting,

So anyway, what do bonded bunnies do? When will I know they’re 100% around each other?

When they can be left to themselves for hours on end without any fights is when they are OK together. My two didn’t even groom until 2 months after they were living together, so that is a good thing yours are grooming… though sounds like he needs to learn when to stop. lol When mine were bonded they stayed together mostly, but they’d also go do their own thing sometimes.

Sometimes a pair are friends, moreso than a lovey-dovey couple. And oftentimes the relationship improves as they are together more. You’re going to get to a point where you need to just throw all your cards on the table and take them to the next step. If they are spending hours together right now, what is your timeline for having them in the same pen overnight? Are they penned in one of their pens during the bonding sessions now?

I don’t really have a timeline :/ I’ve just been really trying to go off them. They aren’t penned in, but they were blocked in the kitchen 100% supervised, the kitchen is maybe 10×10 ish. They were flopping together and relaxed, but when I tried to expand that to the living room (Lady’s space) they fought, I think mostly instigated by Sam. Maybe I need to do a super scrub down of her area first?

I would suggest that yeah. It still smells like Lady’s space instead of being neutral, so she would get huffy at having Sam in it.

Actually.. I wouldn’t expand the space at all. Keep them in the 10×10 space until they can overnight in it, and cement them. THEN do the clean of Lady’s play space, as you’ll need to do that for all the space anyway.

<3 Thank you. Do you think I should continue as I am or should I try to stress-cement them with a drive?

Keep going as you are. Sounds like it is going fine to me Just keep extending sessions and such.
