I watch a lot of TV, or at the very least I have the TV for at least 6-8 hours a day, irregardless of how much I am paying attention to it. I like the background noise. I will watch everything from action movies, ER shows, comedies (with loud, catchy music), etc. Basically there is a huge variety of noises that come out of my TV on any given day. Nova sleeps under the TV. The TV is placed about 5ft abover her sleeping spot, but the noise carries down there just fine.

My roomies play music when my door is shut, and my door blocks sound pretty well, and she is thumping the floor like the sky is falling! The noise is not nearly as loud as my TV is.

Uh… What gives? Do we just have similar tastes in sound? Haha.

Tv sounds are more likely to not have heavy bass or bight pitched noises, whereas music has such a wide variety of sounds. I know MY ears feel it when my boyfriend plays his music, especially high bass stuff and theirs are more sensitive. My buns hate Fridays during football season because band music can be heard through the windows. Stickers thumps over drums.

Just saying – my boyfriend was doing some real house cleaning one day and listening to cd after cd of different kinds of music, seems Buck likes Bob Seger the best haha. Not sure what song – guess I should check it out though.

Said he was doing zoomies and binkies a lot when it was playing. But also, went to the corner to hide a few times when he didn’t like the music.

I think Sticker is probably right about the variety of sounds. Music is adjusted to play up the low bass and the high pitched sounds – those are what we hear and experience best coming from a radio. Both the feel of the bass and the high pitched stuff is probably more annoying to the bun than the mid-range stuff coming out of the tv. At least that would be my guess! I don’t listen to a lot of music so I don’t know how my buns would react. I usually only listen to music while I’m making dinner, but cooking in general freaks Hannah out so I can’t tell how she feels about the music 😉

One of the many sleeping places of Chacha bun is RIGHT NEXT to the TV. I don’t get it. I have the TV on and will sit a good distance from it. Maybe she likes the noises as she sleeps? Lol

ChaCha might like the warmth the TV gives off. Nova too, for that matter.

Bunny hearing is about 10 times better than ours, so I’m sure the range of the music is hard on them. Or they are more discerning critics.

RabbitPam, that could be! At the moment, she is right next to the TV, and the TV isn’t on! LOL! Silly girl

Yeah, they just don’t like music. I have always chalked it up to their better hearing. When we were at my apartment, mine would always leave the room after giving me a grumpy look whenever I decided to play music. I also got grumpy looks if any music was on the tv- like from commercials or something. lol

She doesn’t mind the TV music/commercials, or when I play classical or movie sound tracks. She only seems to have a problem with what my roomies play. Maybe she picks up on my vibe that I don’t like that type of music?

I don’t think it is heat from the TV. The TV is really high above her, like at least 5ft. Not that there isn’t some sort of air current that happens… She sleeps most of the day in her box, but when I have the TV on in the evening she sleeps in front of the TV. Though I think she sleeps in the box because my room is bright during the day and the box is nice and dark.

Oh, and I think she sleeps in front of the TV so she can keep an eye on me in the evening when I am sitting in bed….

I’ve heard that rabbits don’t like bass or high pitched sounds so I think Stickerbunny is right. They have such better senses than us so they might be hearing more or it just might be too much.

                              Totoro doesn’t like music either.

I must have a weird rabbit. Squirrel will sit right in front of the subwoofer when we play music. Monkey will too…

Mine don’t mind the music I play – but I don’t play heavy bass, or weirdo high pitched techno noises, etc. I play classical music to keep the bird company when I am not around and they don’t mind that at all. Even things like Disturbed are fine. But… anything really heavy in drums (like the band at football, or metallica) or really high pitched and Stickers goes on a thumping war with it. It’s just certain frequencies they can’t stand, from my experience. Like Stickers cannot tolerate my bird at all, his pitch must hit a nerve with her, but Powder doesn’t mind him unless he’s screaming at top volume. Just like in humans though, the birds pitch doesn’t bug me, but it makes the boyfriends ears hurt he says. And I can’t stand heavy bass, it vibrates my ears and gives me a headache, but boyfriend loves bass in his music. So different tolerances for different buns probably.

perhaps it isnt the music itself. it could be the radio waves pestering the bun. try googling “radio wave pets” or something of that nature.
