So this is what i Currently have and am planning a second level….My bunny has very hairs bottoms feel and the tiles allow her to slip and slide to the point where she just cant walk. Does anyone have any suggestions to help with this? Should i just buy some throw rugs and put them on the floor? Im definatly going to carpet the second level.

Any suggestions on where to get carpet? Can you just get liek a few feet at home depot?

        Thanks!

You can usually buy carpet samples at carpet stores – they’re maybe 2’x2′ or so I think. You could also look for cheap throw rugs.

I got low-pile rugs from home depot that are made to be indoor door mats so that my bun wont chew it and it had rubber on the bottom so it wouldn’t slip.

I cover the bottom of my condos (except for Stormy who is a chewer) with “Snoozi pads”. They are plushie mats you can buy at pet stores made to put in dog kennels. These are also great for preventing sore hocks. They come in different sizes.

I have a piece of wood to make a second level, and some dowels… should i just stick the dowels through the squares to stabalize it? would that be sturdy?

I like usig 2’x5′ rugs since you can through them in the wash if they get dirty or if there are any accidents. Also, if you want to buy only a couple feet, Home Depot has a section where they sell pieces of carpet/laminate flooring that was cut but returned or not picked up for whatever reason, and I think they run 20-30% cheaper then getting it cut from the roll. And remember at Home depot, you have to by pieces that are at least 12″ long, so if your cage is 28″ deep, you’ll need at least 28″ by 12″. Hope that helps!

I use IKEA’s “Borris” door mats in Porky’s condo.

They are very cheap, so I can keep extras handy.  They are thin and don’t fray, so I cut them easily to size/shape with kitchen/utiliy shears.  They don’t slide, and Porky ignores them.  When they get really dirty, I wash them out in the sink and hang them to dry.
