For the last couple of days my 4 yr old bunny has one ear that is back instead of straight up like the other. Does this mean hes sick? Hes still eating plenty and pooping normally. Nothing has changed as far as his diet, or the temperature of the house. I clean his cage daily and he gets plenty of exercise. So im confused, he seems fine, but is a floppy ear a sign somethings wrong? should i take him to a vet?  (…btw, he’s a new zealand bunny so his ears are usually both straigh up or both back)

Hmm well I do know that a rabbit’s ears can drop basically at anytime, it’s not common for it to happen this late but I know that it does happen. Some rabbits have one ear flopped and one ear upright

It can sometimes mean there is something wrong. Has he been scratching it lately? Sometimes an infected or abscessed ear inside can smell pretty pungent so you might try smelling the inside of the droopy ear. When you look inside of the ear, do you notice any difference — any extra crusties? Sometimes injury to cartilage can cause this as well.

And like bunnyfriend said, though it is uncommon for an ear to drop so late (if there is a lop somewhere in his lineage), it can happen.

I think it is definitely something to check out though since this is a sudden change.
