Right next to where Nova was sleeping and normally lays, there was a wet spot about the side of a silver dollar (so a little bit bigger than a quarter). I got it out of the carpet, and it did not smell at all. It wasn’t clear, but it wasn’t very colored either (and I have no idea how dirty this carpet is!). I honestly don’t think it could be pee. There just wasn’t enough, and it was right next to where she was flopped (so if she did pee herself it would have got on her fur, and I checked that). There is no way the liquid came from anyone but her. She was fed hours ago and I haven’t been out of bed since. She just had her teeth done, so she wouldn’t be drooling because of a problem. So my question is, do rabbits drool?

I’ve never seen my rabbit drool, my vet told me that drooling is a sign of teeth problems so I don’t know what else it could be. Is her chin wet or dry right now?

I’m sure they’re capable of drooling in their sleep. I haven’t noticed either of my rabbits doing that, but I’m very rarely staring at them while they sleep or checking the space after they sleep. I guess I would just keep an eye out for any other signs of teeth issues. This is likely just an isolated event.

I agree with Beka. Just keep an eye and if it happens again you may want to get her teeth checked.

could she have been licking the carpet? my bun loves to lick pillows, sometimes to the point that he’ll leave a pretty sizeable wet spot!

Oh, maybe you are right Lindsay! She had been licking the carpet near there the other day, so maybe when i wasn’t paying attention she really went to town!

I really doubt it has anything to do with her teeth. She had a tooth trim a week ago yesterday, and the vet said her teeth should be good for at least another two years as it took 5+ years to get bad the first time.

My rabbit would drool, but that was due to her teeth and her chin and side of her mouth was wet so there was no question about it.  You didn’t mention you noticed any dampness around your bunny’s mouth, so it was just the spot on the floor?    I just double ditto to keep an eye out for this happening again. If it does, hopefully the mystery can be solved!

Nope, both her mouth and her nether region were dry and clean! I mean, it had to have come from her, I am positive of that. I had been in my bed for a few hours, letting any water that might have dropped from feeding her dry (and I know I drop a lot of water, but never that much concentrated in one spot). She hasn’t done anything like it since, she is eating fine, running around like a spring chicken, and overall seems perfectly healthy. So I will certainly post again if I find anything else like it, but I am thinking it might have been a one time thing. Maybe I dropped something nice that she liked the taste of?
