I have been wary of NIC panels for the longest time. I worried that it would be time-consuming, finger-hurting, tough to maneuver, flimsy and unstable, and simply not worth the money.

Normally, 12 NIC panels range from $30-35 where I live. I bought my first NIC set of 12 panels last weekend for $23 on sale from Home Depot Canada. (I still find that pricey, but I’m a cheapskate.)

In a period of 15-20 minutes, I made a little gate to protect my computer wires! I used all 12 panels and put it together with cable ties. Surprisingly easy to put together. My fingers were not sore. Although I had to take out one of the cable ties, and I would suggest using a wire cutter rather than scissors. The panels were small enough to make it into whatever “shape” you want it into, and easy to push/bend as a gate. The gate stands up just fine and though I still worry it may fall over, it works well for $20-something dollars. Point is, the gate works and keeps the bunnies away from the wires.

I have no idea why I worried that it would be so frustrating. This is a stress-free method to create mini-gates.

Now if only I hadn’t overthought it and just bought some NIC panels 3-4 years ago. So many more wires would have been saved; and I wouldn’t have had to resort to creative “feng sui.” (I had to rearrange my furniture so that my wires were out of reach.)
