My last post was about messy poops. We fixed that by a simple diet change. (Higher fibre pellets (Oxbow), and we found some hay he would eat – yes! + the elimination of vegetables and fruit).

Now, after we finally think he’s okay, I am noticing some really nasty dark pee spots outside of his litter. There is some in the litter box. The liquid outside of the box is black like soy sauce. There isn’t too much of it. The largest puddle is maybe the size of a nickle. Then there are a few drops located near each other in another area, and a brown smear of (likely the same liquid) at the back of his cage.

Does anyone have experience with this? Could it be lack of vegetables and too much fibre? What about a UTI (urinary tract infection)?

        Any suggestions are appreciated!

        Thanks!

I understand from your other post that money is tight right now, but I would definitely recommend at least trying to get a vet exam in case there are more problems – the sooner you can catch any problems the better.

It could be a variety of issues that could be a result of his initial problems that you posted that you may feel you have resolved but that may not be the case at all and your rabbit may continue to have issues.
