…did they start to go crazy again?? I just had both of my rabbits neutered on Saturday morning and they were kind of loopy and mellow all night yesterday and today but now they’ve gone back to their old selves. How long did it take for your rabbits to start to become all hormonal before they mellowed out for good?

It can takes about 4-6 weeks for most of the hormones to leave.

Not all bunnies go crazy after spays/neuters, mine didn’t! If yours are back to their old selves already, it might be for good .

They’ve both mellowed out a bit but seem to be the same as before the neuter. Of course, I didn’t get them neutered for behavior reasons, but rather I want them to become buddies. The one I rescued on Valentine’s was VERY energetic but I think it was hormones because he seemed to be older. The second I’d walk into my room he’d start running back and forth and honking in his cage. He doesn’t do that anymore but everything else about him seems to be the same.

I’m just wondering, is it normal for them to go back to how they were and then all of a sudden get all crazy and hormonal? Or would that stage (for some) start to happen right after a neuter?

Can you define what you think Crazy/Hormonal is?

My girl was very mellowed out after her spay. She stayed at the vet for 2 days. Every bunny is different though.

Ive heard people talk about how their bunnies were worse after their neuter. More destructive, more energetic, etc.

Powder started being crazy / destructive / not listening about 4 days after his neuter, when he stopped feeling lethargic/sick from the meds and pain. His hormones surged and he went nuts. After a month he calmed back down to himself. Stickers got less destructive/hormonal from day 1 and never had the hormone surge. It varies by bunny. If yours are being normal, they might not have the problem.
