I just want half a bale for 7.50 of Timothy. But I can’t find any. I am a true believer in buying locally. Unfortunately my stores only sell Alfalfa in bales. I was thinking that if I could get a decent priced Timothy bale I could get 2 or 3 and give 1.5-2.5 bales to the shelter where I got Buck. Anyone live near WI/IL border who knows where to get some?

I’d love a PM with some info on where you get yours. And I have plenty of time because I still have 2 bags, one Kaytee and one Oxbow Western. I give him a little of both and he doesn’t have a problem with it but they are both extremely messy and don’t sit nicely in his little hay holder because of the small pieces.

Not sure, but if you do a google search for farms, usually you can find one that offers hay. Or for feed stores. Are there a lot of horses or cows around your area? You could stop and ask one of the owners where they get their hay.

I’m not sure how far it is from you, but Galusha Farm in Warrenville, IL has wonderful hay.

That’d be a little too far – it’s over an hour one way! And then I might as well just deal with what I lose from Oxbow because of the gas I’d spend getting there and back.

I’m trying to picture where you’re located.  Are you right on the IL/WI border?  I can get some phone numbers to horse barns in that area, I’m sure they’d be ok with selling you a bale.
