I’m getting my rabbit spayed and have called around trying to find the best vet/price. The Humane Society can do the spay for $109. But they do not offer bloodwork before the surgery. Which I would like to do because she is 4 years old. I found a vet called Wilson Veterinary Hospital that will do the spay for $85 and can do bloodwork. Does anyone have experience with this vet? I just want to make sure I’m taking my baby to a vet that I can trust.

        Thanks!!

          Hi,
We have rules about not naming names when it comes to specific vets, especially nothing negative. I will leave your question up and check with BB to see if it’s OK. Meanwhile, I will ask anyone who knows this practice and can give a recommendation or has negative feedback to please email you privately, via the Message Center, rather than posting a reply here. Thanks.

It’s not against the rules to ask if others have had experiences with a certain vet or recommend a vet.  The problem comes if there is a negative review because of lawsuit issues.  It’s less of a rule, and more of a cautionary guideline.

This is a copy of the Guidelines:

            ____________________

RE: Negative Reviews/Comments of Pet Stores, Vet Hospitals, Individual Vets and other individuals So, you saw horrible conditions at a pet store, your vet was terrible, and you had to deal with the rudest receptionist. Those things are monumentally frustrating! We understand, but for your own legal protection keep actual names of individuals and businesses out of your posts.   According to the Communications Decency Act, you, the individual poster in an online forum, is legally responsible for your statements, and so if a company or individual wants to pursue a lawsuit against you, they can track you down (IF a court orders it) by your IP address (even if it changes).

Now that does make it tricky if someone asks you about a vet. Does that mean you can’t tell them your “bad” experience. You do so at your own risk. Just be mindful about it.  And remember, your post won’t just show up on our site.  Our pages are indexed and so if someone does a google search for that vet, it may pop up then.

Also note our guidelines about Vet Referral:

Vet Information & Vet Referrals:   It is okay to refer a particular vet when someone asks for it or if it is subject related.  Even if someone posts their vet or facility recommendation to you, it is still your responsibility to screen the vet and the facilities.  BinkyBunny.com and the person that gives you the vet reference is not responsible for what happens in the referred veterinarian’s care. That is between you and the veterinarian.  So always be sure to check out any referred vet for yourself.

Yup I know them. My family has taken dogs there for emergency situations a few times when her normal vet was closed. They have always been really good with us, and a lot of local dog people that I know recommend them. Dr. Wilson saved my moms elderly German Shepard’s life recently. I am not sure how they are with exotics though. BTW you are talking about the Wilson’s in Sterling Heights/Romeo, correct? If so then, you are really close to me!

If you really want my honest opinion though, try Parkway Small Animal and Exotic in Clinton Township. They really are number 1 with this stuff. Downside is the price. Probably more expensive than what it would be at MHS. But the care you get there is great! Feel free to PM if you need more info.
