I am writing kind of on behalf of another member who has a beautiful bunny girl called Asha

Asha is 6 months old and was desexed about 2 weeks ago. She was a lovely bunny beforehand, very playful and friendly, only a little bit grumpy on occasion, but her owner tells me that since the operation she has been seriously cranky, wont let anyone near her, and hisses and bites when anyone dares to go near her.

Has anyone else had this happen after  desexing a girl bun?

No, but this can be common, and doen’t last long. I had a friend whos bun was like this for almost 3 weeks. She should calm down soon.

If it is only 2 weeks after spay, her hormones could be going crazy still. Give it a couple more weeks

Wooly is a boy, but I remember him going wacko after he was neutered. He was back to normal after about a month.

What is the situation that she’s nipping at her?

My rabbit was desexed at 6 months and showed signs of of craziness for a month or so. Now she is back to herself. Like everyone says, it takes a while for the hormones to relax, and how they react depends on the bun.

Agreed. The hormones sort of surge before final inactivity, and that takes a month.

However, if after that time she continues, then it’s possible something may have gone wrong with the procedure and she’s in some kind of pain or had an injury that may be internal. Aggression can be an indication of illness, so I’d give her about 5 weeks after the date of surgery to watch her behavior, and take her to a vet if there’s no change.
