I read here in a thread (don’t remember which one) that after she got her bun neutered, the circling stopped. Is this true that the circling is a hormonal behavior that will stop when Bunji gets neutered? Everyone, including me, loves being circled. I don’t want it to stop!  He’s never tried to hump us or anything for a matter of fact. He just gets happy and circles us occassionally.

I think it depends on the bun. Lady still follows and circles, but its not like, hormonal circling, its sit down and love me circling.

It depends on the bunny. Otto only circled me once or twice, both long after he was neutered (he wasn’t affectionate at all as a young bun, before or after neuter, so I think he circled me when he actually started to like me). He circles Hannah every once in a while too – it’s really cute once I realize what he’s doing.

Oo well I happen to have a pretty cute video of my bridge bunny circling me and licking my feet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL6WeilKirg He was neutered and just very affectionate, always grooming me and circling me.

My two bunnies are currently spayed and neutered and they circle me at the same time following each other super fast, it’s so funny. They do it when around the times of day when they get their pellets.

So I wouldn’t worry about the circling going away once he’s neutered circling can mean they are courting you or are begging or just love you.

Powder will run in a circle around me, especially if I have food – or he expects me to have food and he’s neutered.

Oh yeah, I should say that they definitely circle me when it’s time for food, but that’s a feeding frenzy more than nice circling. lol

oh good! whew! When I read that I got nervous and told my bf what I read and he was like, “HE’S NOT GETTING NEUTERED THEN.” haha MEN! They act all tough but they’re just as big as softies as we are.

Zeus got neutered 3 weeks ago or so, and he still circles me when he wants attention or I’m getting him snacks out of the fridge.

Squirrel will run circles around me when he is out to play. I’ll stand there and he’ll run in circles around my feet It’s adorable. And he is definitely neutered

I’d say the obsessive honking biting circling would stop as that’s pretty hormonal. But just circling-well Rupert does that It’s just not a frustrated obsessive thing

Mine don’t really circle, but they never really did to begin with. Wooly will jump up on his hind legs though when he’s begging. Leopold just nose bonks me.

So I figured since he circles a lot now and it just seems like a happy binky thing not a i’m sexually frustrated thing he’ll probably do it after D-Day. I hope :/

Haha. I’m guessing you haven’t been sprayed with urine while he circles yet then. It becomes considerably less “cute”.

Hahah yeah trust me, you want to get him neutered, as Beka said spraying is not cute. They go up on their front paws and swing their bunny butt around and suddenly there’s pee everywhere :/ It’s gross.

So very true about the spray. When Piglet first started to feel frisky he managed to spray a 5 ft long arc about 4 feet up the sunroom wall.
That was when I thought they were both boys.

So glad I’ve never been sprayed!

We did have one little guy when I worked at the shelter who sprayed like crazy. Obviously he was still intact when he first came in and for the first week he sprayed constantly in a perfect arc outside his cage (it was reddish pee too, so kind of looked like there was a zombie attack). We were all really excited when he got the snip!

yeah I’ve never been sprayed and I’ve never seen him spray anything actually *knocks on wood*. Although he might have sprayed his pen at my parents once (I can’t tell if it was that or he missed litterbox because it was right next to box and I’ve discovered my boy HAS to have a high back litterbox because he pushes himself as tight as possible into the corner). I’m assuming if and when this happens the urgency to neuter will become apparent. Unfortunately, I just found out today that I do not have the funds for it right now. Probably this spring I will. I overdid Christmas

Vivian is a senior bunny who has been spayed for many years — I still get circled for treats!

I think spraying mostly happens when there are other rabbits – I’ve only rarely heard of single rabbits spraying.

My bunny got spayed last week, she’s 8 months. She has stopped the humping but will circle and give little honks when I give her food still.

My Bighead still circles and honks as much as he did before he got neutered.

I did receive a circle spray once from him (on his first day home from the shelter). He now sprays by the litter bin walls once in a while. I’ve had to resort to putting up covers to protect the walls.

Jack used to do that alot.  And I used to always blame Jack, but the other day for the first time ever, I saw spray on the wall by the litter box! I only have Vivian now and so I was amazed at that, as I have never seen her spray.   And I still have a hard time believing it.   But it’s either her or Jack’s ghost!

Madam Pepper Bunny definitely sprays. She’s always been the alpha bun which is why I originally thought she was the boy. Pepper was the one doing all the humping at first so I had resolved to take Piglet and Pepper together to be neutred, then Pepper had her litter. Any way, spraying……
Madam was in a mood the other night and decided she was not going to bed, I was led a merry chase all over the sun room and play pen (and yes hse enjoys making me chase her) when I nearly had her she bounced a few feet forward lifted her cotton tail and sprayed me. Luckily she didn’t get the range and missed me but the intent was there. She even checked over her shoulder to check her aim, Fiend!
I had to break out the big guns to get her in the hutch after that but Pepper can never resist a bouquet of Fennel and parsley.

He’s been circling us still and its super cute still but if we let him circle for a while we notice a strong BAD odor. We always get up right away and check for pee or any markings but theres nothing but an odor in the air. So he’s spraying right? Is it possible for them to spray without liquid?

Oh my gosh you guys I totally jinxed it. He’s been circling us still and its super cute still but if we let him circle for a while we notice a strong BAD odor. We always get up right away and check for pee or any markings but theres nothing but an odor in the air. So he’s spraying right? Is it possible for them to spray without liquid?

When he’s circling you and you start to smell that skunky smell, it doesn’t mean he has sprayed– you won’t miss it when he does it in front of you.   The stinky smell is just a scent he is putting out from his anal glands.  It can just be a lovely scent that is the air from that not — not liquid.

In his world, this is a reaction to his more constant circling behavior — which is sort of like a mating ritual, and in the bunny world, that scent will help him lure in a mate.

oh ok. well its good that he’s not spraying. But I wonder which one of us- me or my boyfriend he is trying to lure with that smell. lol he only makes that smell when he is circling both of us (or my little joke is that when he circles us in one big circle he “marries us” as in he made it so me and the boyfriend are married not married to the bun- that’d be weird).
