Are papaya tablets an essential addition for a bunnie’s diet?

I think it depends, I don’t give them as often to my flemish as I do my lionhead, its said to help with shedding and make sure there’s no blockage. I usually give my lionhead (Sam) 1 a day She LOVES them!

Papaya tablets are certainly not essential to a rabbit’s diet. No one seems to know for sure how much they really help with digestion. Some think that they should just be considered treats, but others think that they do have some health value.

I bought some to give to my rabbits, mainly because one of my rabbits gets these occasional bouts of sluggishness, where he doesn’t want to eat for two or three hours (then he bounces back on his own like nothing was ever wrong). The tablets didn’t decrease the frequency of these bouts, but I still give them daily, just in case they are helping somewhat. They do like the taste and consider the tablets to be a treat.

Its not essential for a rabbits diet, but some people argue on whether or not papaya and and pineapple really help with breaking down hair like vets used to believe. Right now some vets say that they help and other say they don’t. Its kindof up to you on whether or not you think they help with breaking down the hair. In my opinion is it doesn’t hurt to give them pappaya but and if it really works, then great but if not, they like it as a treat so why not give it to them. It is not essential for them to have it every day or even at all. but it can surely be given as a treat!

Would feeding actual papaya or pinapple help?

I’m not sure if it would actually help anything…the best thing to keep a rabbit’s gut going is fresh hay and fresh vegetables…fiber.

Ditto what Sarita said. But you can give it as a treat!

I’m going to agree with what everyone else said, it’s not really sure if it actually helps or not. I feed one daily though, like a treat, I hope it is helping them but I figure it can’t harm them any. They absolutely love them!!
