Hello everyone. I recently got my first bunny again after not having one in a long time. The store sent with him a care sheet, and on the care sheet they hand wrote ‘No fruits or vegetables until 8 months old.’ I don’t want to doubt their advice, but has anyone else ever heard of this? And if so, should I abide by it? He’s about 3-4 months right now, and he eats normally, but I wonder if I could give him anything fresh.

Also, I have him on free choice feeding of pellets and hay right now. Is this okay because he’s still young, or should I have scheduled feeding times?

        Thank you everyone.

12 weeks old is when you can start introducing veggies. Start with one new thing a week, in small doses.

At his age, unlimited pellets is fine, when he gets older, closer to a year old, limit his pellets. Bunnies of all ages need unlimited hay, so that is good.

LOL definitely fruits and veggies are fine. Someone at corporate office probably went on google and found a bad website to copy that off of.

unlimited hay is always fine, unlimited pellets are fine for now. Some people find they can always feed unlimited pellets (if the bunny doesn’t eat too much and eats enough hay) and some find they must limit at about a year old.

            Congrats!

Thank you. that helps a lot. I knew it sounded a bit odd when I read it.

You can start introducing fruits & vegetables as long as he eats good pellets and lots of hay.

Unlimited pellets are most of the time for rabbits under 6 months old (then you reduce them), but it is only if your rabbit eats enough hay every day, because this is the most important.
