do i have everything i need for my rabbit? i am getting him TOMORRROWWWW WOOO! (maybe… they said he would be ready to go by tomorrow)

i have a cage (XL dog crate with a second shelf)

toys (hanging toys and chew toys and stuff)

        food and water bowl

        food – oxbow pellets

        litter box

        litter – paper pellets

a little dog bed (but that wont be in his cage since its sort of big)

        a towel

a little hidey house, i plan to use the carrier as a hidey house (i’ll just take out the door)

hay – bermuda (i am very allergic to everything else

brushes and nail clippers and cornstarch

fresh veggies (im not sure if hes been introduced to them yet but i will just buy some parsely tomorrow)

        hay bin

am i missing anything? i am adopting from a rescue he is around 5 months old (young – ish) and he got neutered on tuesday and will be ready to go home on saturday. also, he will only be in his cage when im at school/ asleep. thanks

You sound very prepared Only thing I can think of is a rabbit savvy vet picked out in case of emergency. Here is a link to the HRS’s list of rabbit savvy vets, you can find one in your area: http://www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html

Your new bunny is ready to try veggies but I would ask the rescue if and what he has been introduced to. If nothing, I would wait a couple days for him to settle in to his new home and then slowly introduce one new veggie a day.

You must be so excited Good luck with your new bunny!

Just to add on to Bunnyfriend, you can ask the rescue you’re going to who is their vet and that would be a good vet to start with in my opinion. Especially since he was just neutered by that vet, they’ll know his history and stuff.

Are you excited? I’m excited for you. I hope everything works out for you!

Start putting away money for emergencies too, you never know what could happen and it’s best to be prepared

Congratulations!! That is wonderful! I had read your other thread, so I am not sure exactly which bunny this one is. The Lop? or ???

Since he was just neutered on Tuesday, just be sure to be careful with his incision and check it to make sure it’s healing fine.

It will be a big change for this bunny (but the fact he is young, it may be less stressful to adapt to a new place and routine). So just give him some time. I’ve always been told when bringing home a new bunny to let them be in their space for a couple of days so they begin to feel safe and secure in their pen or cage.

And for litter training purposes, you want to gradually allow freedom.

I am so excited for you! I know you have really gone about this thinking about everything you need to expect in the Now and for the future, and trying to prepare properly. So good for you.

Be sure to share pictures and/or video of his homecoming.
