I got my 100+ pound hay bale in Sep., I think it was 120 or 130 pound and my two buns Shumi & Bubby are done with it. That took them about 4 months. They use hay for litter and also food. Before that, my bunnys used to eat Oxbow hay. The 2 bunnies can finish approximately 40 oz of hay for food in like 2 days. I give my bunny Shumi about 2-3 large handfuls of hay every morning at 7 and by 3 pm, she’s done with it. She usually has no hay left in the morning even though I completely overload her hay, like a giant pile gone! Is it normal for bunnies to eat this much hay?!?! &&& also Im going to get a new haybale this week ! DD

Yes. Bunnies eat a LOT of hay. Some times of the year it seems like they eat more hay then other times. I find that while my bunnies are shedding they eat a lot more hay. I am not sure why but it is ok because hay is the most important part of their diet and should be 85% of their food intake.

It’s great when bunnies love and eat a lot of hay. Healthy bunnies!
