I started putting Huckleberry’s dinner pellets in her treat ball to encourage exercise. She likes to plow through her pellets and then take a nap. This way she is at least walking around a bit. I keep an eye on her while she eats to make sure she doesn’t get the ball stuck somewhere.

At first, she bumped the ball around, picking up every bit that would fall through the holes. After a couple days, she would push the ball and if one pellet fell out, she would skip it and keep pushing the ball until several pellets fell out at once at which point she would stop and eat the ones she left behind. Next, she learned to push the ball at an angle so that it would circle her and she hardly had to move to get the pellets out. Now, she diggs at the ball so that it rolls in place in front of her. She also picks it up and shakes it!  So much for exercise!!!!

Mine pulled her cardboard box out of her cage and out into the exercise pen area, pushed it up to the wall, and used it to jump out! lol

I bought one of those cat treat balls from the dollarstore for my buns. I put some dried pineapple in it and gave it to Olivia. She immediately picked it up, hopped away with it to her favorite corner and played around with it until she popped the cover off and then dumped all the candies out and had a snack. She got about 1 minute of use out of it! Glad I only paid a dollar for it!

Hahaha. That’s hilarious! Otto tries to dig at his treat ball, but he’s not smart enough to get it spinning in place – I think he just does it because he’s frustrated and likes to use his paws when he doesn’t know what else to do.

Hannah used to accidentally push her treat ball onto the hardwood, which she didn’t like. After a couple times of me retrieving it she learned to pick it up as soon as it left the rug and put it right back on the carpet.

Tait has learned to pick the treat ball up on the end, with the openings on the bottom, and shake it really good until everything is out and then goes to town. They really are too smart.

Remmy always finds a way around whatever I’ve blocked off! I used to go to great lengths to block him from going under my desk, but once he figured he could jump onto the windowsill and then to my chair and then to my desk there was no hope of that :p
