I was loving on Lady this morning and felt a bunch of mats under her chin and on her neck? I was able to get/pull one out, but it obviously caused her discomfort because she looked at me and hopped away Any ideas on what to do? She’s been shedding recently, and I’ve been pulling a lot from her bum but I didn’t her neck at all :/

Maybe she was having a hard time grooming that spot?
My only guess would just try to brush it every so often…

Or you could cut the mats out…i often have to trim buds bum and feet…hes a lil chubby bun

I’m a little scared to cut them out :/ I’ll just keep trying to brush them. She goes to the vet on Wednesday so I might ask if they can cut it out when shes under.

I have same problem with Belle. She normally have mats under her chin because of wet vegetable make her fur chin mats.

If you can plunk them off then go ahead. I did that to Belle from time to time. She learned her lesson and she started to clean her chin after eating her vegetables or she will deal with me plunking mats off.

Noo, can’t trance her at all. I usually can settle Samson down on her back, but Lady will not have it, at all. I just get nervous picking at her neck, she’s never bit me but I try not to give her reason to, hah…

Then give her a treat after you pluck mat fur under her chin. She won’t feeling upset.

Last night, I noticed Romeo used to have several mat on one side of face (whiskers area). So.. I have to be careful not to plunk whiskers! I got them off without plunking whiskers off. Then I gave him a treat.

I find that the little mats under their chins tend to work their way out until I can pluck them. They still don’t like the plucking though.

Ah hah! I brushed em out by holding a leaf of romaine a little over her head so she had to look up to eat
