We recently adopted MJ from a lady and he came to us littertrained and neautered YAY!! But my only concern is he uses those corner boxes with the wire rungs. He fills it SOOO fast that we are wasting litter as he only goes in the corner and the rest of the litter is fine. I know he has had these boxes for two years do you think it would be ok to change them? As they are not really giving any room for hay.

Do you think I could change it? Or should I leave it be?

You could add a bigger litterbox and see if he likes it, if not switch him back to his old one. My girl used a corner one when she was first here, then I switched her to a big one and she didn’t seem to mind.

My only concern about the same spot is hes in a two level ferret cage, which has two shelves in there so really 2 full levels and 2 half levels haha His litter box is on the top shelf he wouldnt be able to jump on the top of it to get to a bigger one as it would take up the whole shelf almost.

I agree that he should have a bigger litter box. A ferret cage really isn’t appropriate for bunnies either, as it’s designed for a smaller animal that likes to climb – bunnies don’t climb and need more space to run around in a flat area. Shelves are fine, but they really should have at least a 4’x2′ flat area. I’d recommend a puppy play pen or something similar, then you can add a larger box.

Oh this cage is HUGE. it has flat surfaces and he has been in it for 2 years. He gets outside time and gets ample space to run during those times. I dont have the wire ramps as he is able to jump from one level to the other I am able to put his tubes and such on one level and food and stuff on another. Each level is almost the exact same size as a cage and I figured with the time outside of his cage it makes up for the foot it is missing. Or am I wrong? There is still room as the litter box fits on the shelf where the corner one was.

We switched his litterbox and placed it where the older one was and he was fine went to it right away with out any issues.
