So for those of you who don’t know just as of about a week ago, my bun decided he liked me and asked me for pets bowing and everything. Ever since then he begs for attention and loves to be pet for a long time. He has a whole walk in closet as his “room” and I go in there and sit with him several times a day. We have a routine:

I sit down on floor and he does circles and binkies around me. Sometimes I sit down and he just runs over right away for pets. Then he usually circles and binkies again after a good 10-15 minutes of petting. I know this part is good. The last few days he’s been sniffing and exploring me which I thought was a good sign but now he’s now he biting my clothes. Never directly on my skin but I don’t want holes in my clothes or to be bit but I also don’t wanna reject him if he was trying to groom me.

Any idea if this is a good or bad thing or what I’m suppose to do when he starts trying to bite my clothes? Its not vicious or anything like an attack more like he thinks my clothes is food and I know I didn’t wipe hands, etc on them. I don’t remember anything about this in the language of lagormorphs which ismy other site besides this for reference.

When I first brought my bun home, she also did some nibble tests on my clothes. I figured it was a good time to set boundaries. No nibbling clothes. She completely understood. I didnt say anything like No! Or clap my hands and scare her I just simply pushed her aside. She didnt seem bothered, just went along and did something else. It took a few times but she hasnt nibbled on my clothes (on me at least) since. So bottom line is, as long as you arent scary, I dont believe you arent going to hurt his feelings, you need to show him that he is free to run around and have fun, but, there are rules. He will still fall in love with you

You can also have a toy, like a willow ring, handy to put near his mouth instead if he has an urge to chew. I like Tipsy’s advice though.

I’m trying the gently push away thing and so far that’s not successful. I do sometimes offer him a veggie instead but I think he’s being bossy because he started pulling my clothing when my leg was in his way the other day. Unfortunately my first reaction is to move so I think he has me trained pretty well :/
I’m trying to hold out on new toys until christmas but i make break down and give him a new one sooner since he’s already bored of all his toys.

This is very common – both of mine do it (one more than the other). Sometimes I think they don’t know clothes are connected to a person – to them it’s just some fabric they can grab at. Don’t feel bad about pushing him away a little, or leaving the closet and turning your back on him when he does it. He’ll learn that it’s not allowed.

Ok I’m going to be brave. Thank you everyone… He just gets me so wrapped around his little paws. I’m a sucker for when he begs for attention. The poor guy almost hurt himself trying to hop over the baby gate last night because he saw me and wanted to be with me.
