I have a lop, Panda. My dad has a few buns too .But I dont really consider them mine. I kinda want to get Panda a  boy loppy friend. There is one available named Honey. He/she is 2 years old and has honey colored fur. Should I get em? I mean I may in the future, but Panda seems lonely NOW. Any suggestions?

Well, you definitely need to wait until Panda is spayed.

If you look up local shelters that have buns or rescues they may point you into the right direction for bunny fixing.
You never want to just go and adopt a bunny and hope for the best though. Rabbits are really territorial and you should see if they get alone (after their fixed) first.

You wont be able to have 2 buns who aren’t altered together, so if you cant find a place to neuter your current bunny, I wouldn’t get a second one.

You will have to wait a month after he is neutered, that way he will be fully recovered and all his hormones will be gone. The best thing that I can suggest for you to do is once it has been a month after the neuter, take him into a local shelter/rescue and have him go “bunny dating”. That way he can pick his new friend. Otherwise there is no guarantee they will ever bond. I know loppies are adorable, but really the best way is to pick on who Panda is compatible with (the shelter/rescue will help you determine which bunny that is) is to let him decide, and not base it on gender, coloring, breed, or age of a rabbit you want. I know it sucks waiting but it will be worth it

I agree with what everyone has said on this board–let Panda choose his mate, if possible (after neutering and waiting the appropriate amount of time).  Even if all signs are positive during “bunny dating,” you have to mentally and practically prepare for the possibility that the rabbit you adopt will never bond with your rabbit, and you will have to keep them separated.  Make sure you have the resources to do so before considering adding another rabbit to your home.

I would wait until you’ve had Panda for a full year and she is spayed. Give yourself time to bond to her. If she seems lonely (which I doubt, rabbits don’t feel loneliness like people do), chances are it might just be boredom. So give her stuff to do, lots of toys, and interesting places to explore.

You need to take a serious look at what you have available. If you’re having issues locating a vet for a simple spay procedure, that is a red flag that vet care might be lacking in your area. If the new bunny has a chronic condition (teeth, GI stasis, abscesses, etc…) will you have an experienced vet and the resources to treat him long-term? Then there are increased food and litter costs to keep in mind. You would need to start with two habitats, and then when finished bonding, have one very large habitat with a minimum of 4×4 feet.
