        Hello Everyone,

I have two Rabbits one is a male and the other is a female. The male is fix and has been for about a month now. So I thought I would slowly introduce them to each other. The first time I let them see each other, both rabbits tried to mount each other. For about a week they were doing this dominance thing, by mounting each other. So today I brought them out again and noticed my dawf female rabbit was making almost like a coughing noise everytime my male rabbit went near her. As soon as my male rabbit heard that noise he stopped trying to mount her. Now anytime he goes near her, she poops and makes that noise. She doesn’t want him near her at all. I thought maybe the noise was a warning. Have any of you ever heard of this before or seen this. Thanks for your time.

Yep, she is saying “Do not want!”

Is she spayed? If not, don’t try to bond. She will get territorial and aggressive when other bunnies get in her space. It’s in her best interest to spay her anyway, due to cancer risks.

Thank you! I didn’t think people spayed female rabbit’s for their small size. I will start looking into getting her spayed thank you!

Size doesn’t have anything to do with being spayed. MB’s little Monkeybun is only 1.5 pounds and she’s spayed. A vet who has experience with rabbits should not have a problem spaying a small rabbit.

Spaying would be best for your female bun’s health too, it takes away that 85% chance of uterine cancer at an early age. Size doesn’t matter, just age. If she’s over 4 months old she can be spayed. Some vets even spay guinea pigs (2 or less pounds).

If they spay rats, I don’t think a rabbit (even a dwarf one) would be an issue. Some vets may not want to do it, but their not too small for fixing.
