Hello , im in dire need of help

Eirlier on today one of my Rabbits (Thumper) passed away , i have no idea why , one minute he was hopping around and the next he was dead

My other Rabbit (Squeek) Was unfortunatly in the cage with him , i am very worried as i have no idea what killed my other rabbit and Im wondering what should i do to prevent it happening to Squeek ?

Her she is quite a young rabbit (As was Thumper) shes about 5 and a half months old now and she is a very skinny rabbit , im terrified about her weight and if it is normal however i cant find any vet that does not charge for a check up

does any one have any advice on how to plump her up slightly or how to keep her happy

Any suggestions Will be MUCH APPRECIATED

        THANKS !

The only way you will know why your other rabbit passed away is to have the vet do a necropsy and they do charge for that.

Any vet is going to charge for a check-up but it is well worth it especially if you are concerned and your rabbit has never had a vet check.

Only way to truly know what happened to Thumper would be a necropsy, without that, there just isn’t a way to know and if it was something contagious, likely your other bun would have it. All vets charge for a check up, no vet I know of does free medical care, they wouldn’t make any money that way – but check ups shouldn’t be too expensive, my vet only charges $30 for a check up. Check the area for anything that might cause an environmental issue – anything toxic, or that they might chew that could cause an impaction, etc. Wash everything down and disinfect (safely). Keep an eye on her for symptoms – not eating, change in droppings etc. But really there isn’t a way to know what steps to take without knowing what happened to your first.

As for her weight, most young buns are thin. What is her diet like at the moment? If it is a good diet, probably she is fine in that regard. A checkup would tell you for sure though.

Any pet is taking on financial responsibility of their vet care and a check up is the least of this cost. If money is tight, a good idea is to start putting a couple of dollars away when you get paid into a savings account for vet funds, that way you never have to get hit out of bill money etc.Or look into insurance for your bun.

I would take her to the vet and have a wellness check done. My vet charges $45 for a check up. At the check up the vet will also be able to tell you if your rabbits is at a healthy way and make a diet plan for you. What type of rabbit is Squeek?
