Okay so i’m a little worried and confused on what to do.
When i got given Cadbury, a black mini lop doe, she was scared to her core, i couldn’t even touch her for a week. After a few weeks she came good to me and my family but is still petrified of people she doesn’t know, and i suspect she was abused as a youngen as she came from a breeder that didn’t seem to care much at all and had very young children. (They got rid of their “stock” because they didn’t want them anymore..)

Anyway, about a month after i got her she had a phantom pregnancy, around June this year, and that passed after a few weeks. When i checked on her this afternoon she’s pulling fun and making a nast again.. and there is no way she can be pregnant she’s had no contact with males. I want to get her speyed but i know she’s definately 3+ years old, and i know she wouldn’t cope a day in the vet, and i can’t imagine how she’d be after her surgery.. she just wouldn’t cope.

Does anyone have any advice? Any appriciated! Thank you.

I would get her spayed. a day at the vet is better than dying of uterine cancer, and false pregnancies would be harder on her over time than a single vet visit.

I really want to, but i’m so scared! :\
She won’t let anyone but myself pick her up. You cannot touch any part of her except her head, face and ears without her getting extremely upset and she Shakes when she’s around others she doesn’t know or isn’t used to.. :\
Ahh! I’m so torn on what to do..

Well, think of it this way… Female rabbits have an 80 -85% chance of contracting uterine cancer by age 4. Thats very high, and very young.

Both of my girls came through their spays just fine, and Monkey is one that HATES being touched by anyone. My boy Moose is very much a scaredy bun, and he made it through his neuter as well, even though it meant he was at a scary place all day.

It really is better for them, and she will get over being at the vet. She will need vet checks at least once a year anyway, so may as well make this one of them

I think you should take her to the vet for a prespay appointment and let the vet know of your concerns. Also vets and vet techs have techniques to calm animals down that are frightened.

                Spaying definitely is recommended.

I agree about getting her spayed. Take her in for the prespay appointment at least and talk to the vet. No rabbits like the vet, but they get through it and like MB said, having a long healthy life is worth it in the long run.

I get the vet to do a house call when the buns are due for their vacs and check ups.. haha Cadbury hasn’t been in there since i’ve had her (6 months) hehehe.
I’m going into the vet next week, so i’ll have a chat then. Reading this, and doing some research online, i think i will get it done. She deserves a good life after what she’s been through.
                    Thanks everyone<3

Very cool that your vet does home visits. That will be a good opportunity to ask some questions. I wonder if the vet thinks giving a mild sedative at home before she comes in for a spay would be helpful (or safe)? Something to ask I suppose.

Have you heard of Bach flowers Rescue Remedy before?  You can actually give that to rabbits. Some drops on their food or rub a little on the inside tip of the ear. Cadbury might benefit from something like that.

Nope? Just googled, looks good. Might invest in some.. haha
                        Thanks.
