My older bun is fairly inactive when she is in her home. She needs some exercise, so I usually take her out and let her roam the house then out her on the couch to sit with me while I edit photos. Lately, if you put her on the couch with you, she will start digging (usually on a blanket or shirt). Most of the time, she will dig then pee on the couch – then proceed to keep digging and poop all over. In 10 minutes of being on the couch, it looks like there is more poop on my blanket than in her cage. She will stop for a bit and want me to rub her nose but as soon as I stop, she goes right back to it.

What is going on with her? She has never acted this way before.

Is she box trained? It’s harder to litter train unfixed buns, but it can happen (My Nava is 8 and not fixed. She has it down pretty well). I would add a poo box to the couch if you want her to sit there.

The nesting thing, at night when Nava comes up on my bed she does the same to my blankets (but just doesnt leave pills and doesn’t pee). I think she thinks it’s just something to nest with.

Well, logical thing to me is to not let her on the couch if that is the only place she does it

(PS: Nava’s: Did you change your forum name? If so, that gets confusing! It’s hard to remember who is who if people change user names )

She isn’t litter trained. I tried for a few weeks and she wasn’t having that pan in her personal space. Even zip tying it to the sides, she’d still manage to try it out of the corner lol.

I think I will try and see if she’ll use the box if it was on the couch. I love having her as a couch buddy but I hate steam cleaning it and vacuuming poo from the carpet every day haha!

I just actually noticed she was nibbling or sucking on the blanket, as well. I mean, it doesn’t help that it’s the same color and softness as her lol.

She was also licking the side of my couch… odd.

She must be happy though cause every once in a while she’ll throw a binky in there

I have a rabbit that licks everything. Toys, carpet, windows.. some buns just like to lick stuff

Not being spayed will contribute to lack of litter training too.

Well, thanks for the info. I am going to call the vet and see what it will run for me to get both spayed.

Well, she does it on the floor too. Pretty much anywhere other than home It just seems worse on the couch since it’s a small area lol.

Some bunnies poop and pee on things like clothes, couches, beds, our blankets, ect. because they smell the most like us and they are claiming those things for themselves. I trained my Bridge bunny not to go to the bathroom on things like that but it took some work, but totally worth it. All of my bunnies have been blanket lickers haha. She’ll know you love her back by you petting her, they think we’re grooming them.
