So has anyone given a 4 month old bunny a special treat for being good.  I want to reward Blossom for letting me brush her but I know you can not give 4 month old bunnies anything but pellets or hay.  Well thats not cutting it for a treat!!  She wants something special.  Any ideas of what I can give her in small quantities at her age.  Thanks Mindy

At 4 months she can start having salads. Craisins and shredded carrots work well for treats for my girls.

At 12 weeks you can introduce veggies, so at 4 months she should be fine to start having some vegs. Start slow and offer just a few bites of one vegetable at a time (no more than one in a day) to make sure they don’t upset her stomach. Then you can start giving her salads and treats. With a young bun you should keep the portions small though.

Carrots, craisins, papaya tablets, fresh fruit (their favorites: apple, banana, peach, grapes) are treats I feed, of course only small amounts and not too often. I started Wilbur on veggies at 12 weeks. Just start slow and only introduce one thing at a time. I started with a tiny bit of carrot.

My bunnies love bananas and apples, but I hear craisins (in very small amounts) are like bunny crack.  Never tried them with my pair of bunnies.

I’ve made mine bunny biscuits before. He loves them.

I ground up 1 cup pellets 1 cup of hay 1/3 ground oats, then juiced 1 carrot & pear and put the pulp in the mixture then used the juiced as the liquid.

Then I squished them into biscuits and baked them for 30 mins on 350F and turned off the oven and left them in there to dry out more.

It made A LOT of biscuits and lasted forever, they dried out and got harder after a few days.

He will also beat me up for banana, dried pear, apples, papaya, and craisins

piper, you should try it… mine attack me, give me kisses, jump in my lap (and they are usually all against jumping on me at all, or getting anything more than arms-length pets) and just go wild as soon as they see the craisin bag. lol

They go INSANE. Wilbur will jump all over me and sniff and search frantically. It’s hilarious.

Yes, craisins are definitely bunny crack! LOL Thumper’s favorite thing is when I hide craisins underneath all the shredded paper in his digging box and he has to dig through it to find them. Well, I’m sure he would like it more if I just handed them to him but his brain needs some stimulating lol

Oh, they love papaya! And a little banana but those can be high in sugar. Oh and my rabbit Pandora, Panda for short, He LOVES CRAISINS! Everyone is right! They go nuts for Craisins! I give Panda 1 or 2 for either doing clicker tricks or being good (like always♥) Hope this helps

My buns love fresh fruit. They also sometimes get dried papaya and craisins. Dried flower petals is another fave.

It’s “naners” at our house. They like the Oxbow banana treats. I just break up the big pieces and ration them out in small amounts. They go absolutely bonkers for them.

Hehe, bunny crack… so true. Mine even search around on the floor and actually check each other’s mouths- it’s so funny. They get to be a real pain though with the begging. Every time I walk into the kitchen, they attack.
Bwild, that’s a good idea, hiding the craisins for extra challenge. You’re lucky your bunny can figure it out- I’ve tried stuff like that with mine and they just don’t get it- they keep lunging at my hand and jumping onto my lap. I even show them the treat, then very slowly hide it under a plastic cup. They trample over the cup trying to get at my hand >.< . Oh well.
They both love bananas and BunBun likes apples too, but he can only have tiny bits of fruit cuz of his poopy butt tendencies.
