Hi I was just wondering what kind of vacume you use to clean your bunnies area. I was thinking about getting one I just need some opinions first.

Shop vacs clog less / handle huge messes easier, like lots of hay and fur and droppings, but aren’t that great for huge areas. Regular vacuums are fine for general clean up, though if you use it on droppings a lot it will start to smell. Pet vacs are designed to handle fur, but still clog on hay usually.

Personally, I just use a regular old $30 bissel from wal-mart, it picks everything up, but the hay does clog the hose so I have to take it apart every 5th or so vacuuming to clean the hose out.

I use the “Bissle Lift Off”. We have had it for years and it still works. I tried a shop vac and I hatted it. It was big and bulky and surprisingly didn’t pick up hay/poo very good. But it was an old shop vac.

Our shop vac works best for hay and poo. The regular vacuum doesn’t have enough suction to pick up the heavier poos and the hay gets tangled in the brush. So I usually go around with the shop vac to pick up the big things and then go over it with the regular vacuum to really get down into the carpet.

I had a mini dirt devil… the thing broke recently though. I put it on a rat cage and it slid off and now it won’t turn on. :/

I have the shark navigator vacuum and it’s amazing and cheap! Especially from bed bath and beyond if you have a coupon! I love it, I got my mom one and she has a dog and she loved it too plus it has a hepa filter

I have one kinda like this -http://www.amazon.com/Bissell-3106A-Featherweight-Lightweight-Vacuum/dp/B00008NRU0/ref=sr_1_3?s=vacuums&ie=UTF8&qid=1321584684&sr=1-3
Its a stick vaccuum, takes less than a minute every morning to get Lady’s pen clean. And it doesn’t really have any parts to break or jam, if it can’t suck it up (long pieces of hay) you just pull it out and continue

I have a Dirt Devil Ultra Vision Turbo. I like it, it has great suction that pics up hay, litter pellets and poos. The only bad part is that the hose will get clogged up if I suck up a lot of hay and I have to stick a broom handle through it to unclog it. But it was decently priced and it gets heavy duty use because of my cats and rabbits and it’s still working after quite a few years.

I use a handheld dirt devil to clean up little messes and use a bagless eureka vaccum to clean up the bigger messes I sweep sunshines cage and scoop up with the dust pan then use the vaccum hose. It works great!

I have a Dyson – I really like it, but I pick up big clumps of hay first, otherwise it sometimes clogs in the hose. I want to get a handheld vacuum of some sort for daily spot cleaning of his stray poops and stuff, cause I hate dragging the big vacuum out.

The Dyson works great for getting my carpets clean though, especially with three birds and a cat as well!
