So I am not really happy about this one.  My roommate is not pet savvy by any means, and is not really considerate of others (found this out AFTER I moved in with her), and so i get a text from her asking if the front desk as called me about making an appointment for the pest guy to come tomorrow… and I said no, when I was I to know about this?  We have tons of roaches in the kitchen and they gross her out.  They are nasty but they dont get in the food and if you close the sink holes, its fine, but she is lazy.  Anyways, I am not entirely sure what to do about my rabbit, I am honestly thinking about bringing her to my classes and sitting her in the back so that she doesnt get hurt from the bug spray.  But then again, is she threatened?  Thats my question.  The kitchen is about 15 feet away from my room and my door is always closed off and they are not going in my room.  Is she safe to be in my room or should I take her with me?

If you could, I would probably take her with you.

I would definitely take her out of the apartment while its being done. Your door may close, but air still gets into your room, bringing the fumes.

I agree, see what you can do about taking her out of the apartment during the process. For good measure, I’d probably seal up the pellets and the hay too while the exterminators are at it.

I finally got a hold of all of my professors and they said that I can bring her in. I am going to keep all of her food in my car and dump all of her water before I leave. Will her toys be ok to chew on still or should I take those as well?

I’d probably remove them all or be prepared to wash them before she gets them again. Anything cardboard, willow, or fabric that cannot be washed get out of there.

Close up the toys in a plastic container with a lid? Something where if any residue gets around, it won’t get to the actual toy. I’d also give her bowls and stuff a scrub before refilling them. You don’t know what type of pesticide or anything they are using and if your room mate cares so little about others, she probably won’t be too interested in making sure they don’t spray in your room or near your cage if they are doing the whole apartment. I know someone who lost all her buns to a sloppy exterminator, so better safe than sorry.

we have our house sprayed every 2 months, and we just tell the guy not to spray in the living room immediately around the buns. the rest of the house is okay for the buns to play in only 24 hours after they spray. I think it might also depend what kind of spray they are using though. as long as theyre not releasing a bug-bomb, i would think she’d be fine in your room with a window open for ventilation.
