Hazel, my 2 year old ND doe, doesn’t seem to like playing with toys too much. She enjoys her timothy play tunnel and chews that to pieces while I am at school, but other than that she doesn’t seem to interested in playing. When I am home she is out all the time and prefers to hop all over me, sleep next to me/on me, or be pet (she loves pets! she is crazy affectionate). I know that all buns have their own personalities, so maybe Hazel just isn’t big on playing and prefers interaction with me. Still, any ideas on better toys for a picky bun? I have a jar, a box with old phone book paper for digging/exploring, and a willow stick toy (which she has mostly chewed). Anything else she might like? Still trying to upload pics, but am having trouble…hopefully I’ll figure it out soon.

Penelope doesn’t enjoy toys either. Until I got Thumper, all the toys I had gotten for Penelope lay in her room being unused. Now Thumper goes to town playing with them and Penelope just looks at him like he’s a crazy The only thing I found that Penelope likes is the Hay Bungalow and the timothy hay mats from the BB site, she loves to rip them to shreds and then lay in them. She still won’t touch a phonebook though.

I made that Jellyfish thing in the homemade toys thread and Samson LOVES that thing. I also just changed up her dinner so now instead of a bowl full of pellets, they are in a slimcat treat ball and she has to “forage” a little more for it. I don’t know if she loves that or not but she does it haha.

Have you tried leaving the phone book pages attached to the phone book? Mine love ripping the pages out of the phone book.

In general I find that bunnies don’t like toys. They don’t play like dogs and cats – rather they play by chewing things up, digging, etc. A bunny that’s chewing something up *is* playing, just not the way we usually think of playing.

If Hazel chewed up her willow stick toy, she definitely liked it, so maybe look for more things made of willow. My bunny has a willow basket to lounge in, which has been lovingly chewed to pieces, so I got her another one of those. She has the willow cube from the BinkyBunny store, too. She enjoys chewing on apple sticks occasionally. I mention these because it sounds like Hazel prefers chewing to other activities, aside from interacting with you, of course. She sounds so sweet.

My bun Domino never has been much into toys. She likes chew type toys though, but anything like balls, stuff animals or anything like that she doenst care for much. She likes bells though! She loves ringing her hanging toy that jingles. She’s just has never been as active as her sister.

Nava will play with just about anything. She loves balls, jingle toys, things that make sounds, and anything she can push and throw around.

Nava and Domino love each other, but they are like Day and Nigh in personality.

Maybe your bun just doesnt have a playful personality, or yet to find a toy she enjoys most?
