Hey all, just a random question as I’ve been reading more and more about bunny behavior and “language” and all that. I was wondering if bunnies are intuitive in any way, like I’ve heard cats and dogs can be. ie, can they sense a human’s mood? If you’re feeling down, will your bunny come to sit in your lap or ask for some cuddles? My little Sweep gets in moods herself, and I’m not a moody person so I’m not sure I’d need that sort of affection, but I was just wondering if bunnies were intuitive to humans’ moods in that way, too?

Not really, at least in my experience. They most definitely won’t come and sit in your lap for some cuddles unfortunately whatever the situation is.

Rabbits like a routine so a change in routine might make them anxious and I’m not sure if they actually wonder what is going on when their schedule is interrupted.

I haven’t noticed anything like that in my rabbits. If anything, they seem to avoid me when I’m feeling upset because I think it makes them nervous. They’re most comfortable with me and interactive when I’m feeling calm.

On my birthday this year, no one remembered it and I was a little down – Powder usually sleeps in his room with his girlfriend now that they are bonded, but he spent my birthday laying by my chair, following me around the house, wanting pets and cuddles, he even let me smother his face with kisses. The next day he was back to his normal ignoring me for his girl self, but that day he spent ignoring her for me.

Stickers wouldn’t care if I was upset or not though, she only wants attention on her terms and she doesn’t care much about anyone else. lol

That’s funny Stickerbunny, I had that exact thing happen to me on my birthday. I was crying, watching TV. Rosy came over and sat on my lap which she does sometimes, but this time she settled in, wrapped herself around my belly, and went to sleep. It was the sweetest thing and really made me feel so much better.

Next day, back to her usual bunny self. I really think it depends on the bunny. Rosy and I have really bonded and I think she is more in tune with me. Kevin couldn’t care less, ha!

Thanks for all the answers! I’m not disappointed, because Sweep still gets in moods where she’ll just sit in my lap and let me rub her back and head for a good 40 minutes or so, which I love too. As long as that doesn’t stop, I’ll be happy
