My Babs has started dumping his food bowl and shredding the papersin his cage and dumping his liter box. Is he mad at me because I put him in his cage ? I just cleaned his cage and put in in it for bedtime. He doesn’t do this every night but sometimes he will.

Honestly, its just something bunnies do. I have a phone book in Samsons xpen for the specific purpose of shredding He might be bored too. But I think it’s just as likely that he’s only being a bunny

He might not have been ready for “bed”. Leopold will do this sometimes. He wasn’t done doing his bunny things and is upset that I put him in the cage for the night. He will usually just lift up the litter box with his teeth and then let it thump on the cage floor.

I would just try to secure his litterbox to the side. How much room does he have? If he’s in a small cage, attaching an xpen as additional exercise room might alleviate this a bit. This way he can be confined, but still have room to move about.

He’s super cute in his hat, BTW!

His cage is 18 by 30 and 20.5 tall. He loves his cage and has room to move about. He has a wood loft to jump up on and sleeps on it. I wont to exspand it but we are limited on space. Thanks about his hat.  He was already in his cage eatting and he does this everynight at the same time so I closed his cage for the night.

That cage sounds too small – 24″ by 48″ would really be the minimum size for even a small rabbit.

Sounds like he’s trying to vent his extra energy by throwing things around. When my pair is locked up more than they would like, they do similar things. It’s not about being mad – just about having too much energy and not enough space to run it out.

Oh I agree with Elrohwen, that is a bit small. How much is he in his cage? Is there any way you could add an xpen to it?

Sorry wrong measurments. It is 20′ L X 32″ W X 21″ H with a stand and It is a 2 level. I do not use the stand. I thought it would be to hard for him to get in and out of so I set the cage on the floor. He is out of the cage most of the day unless we are gone. The day he did this we had not been home much so he must have been venting from us being gone and been in his cage alot that day.

If you were gone all day he probably slept most of the time. Bunnies sleep midday, and wake up with energy at dusk. (and dawn.) So he was venting and playing and maybe a bit mad too.

Sometimes at night Samantha goes to bed at her usual hour (8PM) with her routine, then around 9:30 she just gets frenetic chewing on her cage bars and boxing and running back and forth. She wants OUT! So I close the room door, let her out, she shoots out like a cannon ball, runs a circle or two, then comes over and settles down for pets. She goes back in 5 minutes later tired out and calmer. It’s just a final burst of energy.

LOL, my bun does that for attention & simply to entertain herself.
I don’t like when she does it before I go to work, because it makes me late … but I understand it’s just my bunny being a typical bunny.
