        Hello,

I’m having some trouble with my 3 year old netherland. She seems so constantly be blowing her fur. She looks pretty bedraggled. There is never a time where her coat is consistant and smooth. She always has tufts of fur all over. I brush her once weekly and it still doesn’t help. Is there anything I can do? A supplement she should be getting? It’s pretty frustrating.

        Thanks,

          Michaela

What is her diet of? What pellets/hay do you give her? Veggies?

A shed can last a full month, then gradually smooth out. If it has been much longer than that, I would get her checked by a vet to make sure there isn’t another cause. Sometimes shedding during the hot weather can seem like it just happened, because it’s part of the reason they shed, due to climate changes.

I am concerned enough that I would rule out anything else. Look for other signs, such as scratching or ear and head shaking. If present, take her to your vet.

She’s on the Katee timothy pellets and timothy hay. She gets romaine lettuce, green peppers, celery tops, and spinach a few times a weeks. She has been shedding like this for at least a year. There is no strange scratching or head shaking. Skin looks normal. No flakiness of redness of any kinds. We did just move from the midwest to Oregon. I don’t know if perhaps that could be setting her off since it doesn’t get as cold her?
