Sergeant Hippo is my 6 month old Holland Lop. Ever since I’ve had him, I noticed that he screams once every one to two weeks. When this happens, I go to check on him and he seems fine. Separately, if he ever falls off a couch, chair, or down a floor in his condo he will freeze on his back for around 15-30 seconds. When this happens, he doesn’t move at all. After he recovers he seems fine. This happens once or twice a week. I wanted to check here before I take him to the vet. What do you think?

Is there any particular pattern to his screaming, as in things that precede it? Also, when he freezes, does he come around if you flip him over? Or is the 15-30 seconds how long it takes for him to turn himself over? Like you said, I think a vet is definitely a good idea. It seems like he might have some neurological issue, maybe congenital since he is still young.

Vet, definitely. There is something not right with your bun.

Thanks. I’ll take him as soon as I can. I appreciate your input.

And buns don’t usually “fall off of” items. Or fall down condo floors. I can think of only one occasion in the years I’ve had buns that any of them fell off of a piece of furniture. If this is a common occurrence, that doesn’t sound normal. Keep us posted on what the vet does/says.

It sounds like a seizure.  I use to have a dog that had seizures and he would scream while having one.  He also would fall to the ground and be like frozen for a minute and them jump up and be fine.  I hope he is ok.  keep us posted.  Mindy

My son has seisures and acts like that, I would get your bun checked out by the vet soon. Please keep us updated.

I was going to say that sounds like a seizure, although it may be something else.

It sounds like seizures to me, I had a bunny who had seizures, he wouldn’t scream, just flail and jerk and pant – or seizure-related. Tell your vet in detail what he does when he has an episode. I sympathize with you. Buns can live several years with seizures though they’re hard to watch.
