My bunny does get more acitive in the eavning but he also seems bored. when i play with him he is very fun, but alone he usually just sits around. Also, my bunny doesnt run alot, or do “bunny binkies”. I am guessing he just doesnt do them much, but it makes me sad because i would love to see him more active!!!!!

Some bunnies are more mellow then others. Our bunny lazes around for most of the day, so I wouldn’t worry about that. Make sure he has lots of different toys. Some of Charlie’s favourites are: boxes with holes cut in them, mini plastic cones, balloons, toilet rolls, and big sheets of crumpled up paper.

Have you had him for a very long time? Bunnies need to get adjusted before they really start showing off. Charlie took a couple of weeks before he ever did any binkys.

Also, make sure he has a place to run with good traction. My bunny will only run on the carpet, never tiles or wooden floors. I leave a long section of hall and 2 rooms open in the morning for her to zoom around and get exercise before I limit her to her own room. At 2 years old, she became much more active with my latest move and I swear it is because she prefers this old carpet to our other apartment. You could try a low area rug to see if your bunny has better play time on it. (Maybe borrow one as a test first.)

Bored bunnies don’t lounge around, bored bunnies start getting into things they shouldn’t and get a little.. constructive shall we say?

I agree with MB – a lounging bunny is a happy bunny, but a destructive one is bored. It’s possible that he’s just a lazy guy and there’s nothing wrong with that – one of my pair is extremely lazy and I only see a small binky about once a week. He would rather lay around than run around.

Checking the flooring is another good suggestion. The more traction the better.

A binky is a bouncy twisty jump thing that bunnies sometimes do. They ususally do it with zoomies, where a rabbit sprints around usually in circles. It is a throw back to evasive moves in the wild. House rabbits do it out of joy, instead of fear. Just beacause a rabbit doesn’t binky doesn’t mean they are unhappy. My Ebunny loves to show her happiness by a good flop, sometimes almost onto the top of her head. I figure anytime a bunny shows you their tummy, they must feel safe.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIyN…re=related  binky example with good slow motion capture and labeling to help explain a binky. This bunny is quite athletic and binkies very high, with a twist. Other buns may binky, but more subdued…..
