he also had this scab in his ear. I used to have dogs and I figured maybe one of them nipped it because they used to play and it had this giant white crusty scab on it and I took him to the vet yesterday and the vet said he had never seen anything like it he didn’t know if it was an infection or mites or scar tissue or maybe even a tumor. his whole left ear is pretty hard compared to his right ear it’s really strange. Anyhow he gave me this antibiotic to give him with this syringe 1.5 c a day of baytril? Is this safe? I’m worried about giving it to him and leaving for a few hours. Anyways he also gave me revolution because he has a few fleas and I have no idea where he could have gotten them. the vet said this would help with fleas and mites if that is the ear issue but if not he said we could do a biopsy and worst case scenario is it is a tumor and he would have to have his ear removed

I am so freaked out about this right now. He is 4 and he has never had any problems and I just thought it wasn’t going to be a big deal.

Baytril is perfectly safe and widely used, don’t worry. Revolution is also safe.

Don’t freak out! These things happen and you are taking care of him so he’s in good hands with you and your vet.

Keep us updated on how he’s doing.

My rabbit has been on oral and ear baytril several times for ear infections. It is really safe for rabbits

That is really strange. So you’re going to do the antibiotics and see if it goes away? Was this your first vet visit? Sarita is right, these things happen, they’re just really inconvenient and worrisome. Let us know how he does.
