Abby is definitely bored with her toy selection and is being extremely loud and destructive. She already has a bunch of things in there but I need new ideas. She loves cardboard boxes and tissue boxes (empty with the plastic cut out of the whole. She loves to stick her head into the tissue box, walk around and wave it while it’s on her head, then take it off, and repeat… it’s too cute. She has a cardboard box to go inside of that she loves to shred and she has a new, short one that I put in there to just play with and hop on. She also has cardboard tubes… one that is short and wide and another that is an old oatmeal tube. She has a phone book too that she also ignores. That used to be her favorite thing, to shred phonebooks, but I guess it just doesn’t compare to waving a tissue box around on your head lol.

She is so destructive and loud, especially at nighttime. Between the cardboard box shredding, and her picking up and dropping her heavy litter box, I’ve had to buy ear plugs just so I can sleep.

She needs new toys… does anybody have any ideas for cheap, interactive toys?

I deleted your other thread in the Q&A. Please don’t cross-post the same topic in an effort to get more responses. People will start replying in both threads and the info will be the same, only repeated. This website isn’t THAT big where members won’t see this post.

She doesn’t sound bored to me. She has toys to destroy which is how they play. It’s enjoyable for her to shred cardboard, so the issue isn’t boredom. It sounds like the issue is more the early morning sounds of her playing. As far as that, my best suggestion is to relocate her so she’s not within earshot while you sleep. She is going to want to play at night/early morning and you won’t be able to stop that without removing all sources of entertainment. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to do that.

As far as toy suggestions, I’d recommend you browse thru the Habitat/Toy forum.

It does sound like she is entertaining herself with what she has. You might try some of those baby keys on a ring too if she likes to toss stuff.

Yeah, I know being destructive is how they play, but she’s had the same toys for forever. I do see other signs of boredom and I’d like to stimulate her mind with new toys too… things that are easy to make or cheap. Baby keys are a good idea!

If anybody has any more ideas please let me know… or share what your bunny’s favorite toys are.

I was going to ask this same thing, I didn’t find habitats/toys very helpful.

Stickers favorites are willow balls, sticks, whatever willowy thing I can throw at her (not literally) and her paper tunnel (she runs through it for hours, but it is noisy and has to be replaced every so often). Powders favorites are bark on chew sticks and those little triangles of bunny safe shredded material, he pulls them apart and makes a huge mess.

Most buns don’t seem to like “Bunny Toys” that I have found. Sounds ot me like she is having fun with her boxes though. You said she is showing other signs of boredom? What are they?

I saw a youtube video recently, yet I cant remember where it was.
Anyway, the owner took a paper egg crate and turned it upside down and poked holes in it. Then he stuck sticks in the holes and the rabbit yanked them out. I have a toy at home with the same concept and it is a great way for my rabbit and I to play together.

It’s kind of hard to describe but it seems like she gets angry. And she seems frustrated. I don’t know if you guys know what I mean but I just kind of know, like I’m plugged into her. She’s had the same things to play with for a long time and I switch them out and stuff but she’s played with all these so many times that I think she’s bored with them. I know bunnies destroy things and shred, that is definitely Abby’s favorite game. I just want some new things to put in her area that she can have some new fun with. Any sort of homemade things would be awesome…

Oh my gosh, that’s what I’m talkin’ about Huckleberry. Ideas like that are awesome! lol

I’d also like to see more suggestions. Each “toy” keeps my bun interested only temporarily or sometimes complete no attention (treats/hay in paper bags – tried so many times but I have to open it up completely for there to be any activity). One or two nibbles on each stick and then she’s bored. Chewing on wires/wire covers however, never gets boring nor digging in carpet…

One “long” lasting toy I have are different sized cardboard boxes filled with wadded up paper and sprinkle treats/pellets inside for digging and chewing.
