My lionhead lop is about a year old and ive noticed that for a few months she has been missing more and more hair on the back of her neck. I can only see it when she is grooming and is bending her neck down but its about a 2 square inch area so it is pretty big when stretched out. I was wondering if I should be concerned about this or not? I was wondering if it is because of the heat of summer and whether it would grow back as well.

        She is spayed

she is eating and playing normally

the naked skin doesnt look flakey or dry

        no hair clumps in cage

no fleas or pests that i can see

I wouldn’t be-they are sparse behind the ears/neck area as it is, lionheads and lops being more so in my experience. And as lionheads aren’t a recognized breed (last time I checked, these things do change), the breed is different from breeder to breeder meaning that fur irregularities occur Most lionheads look like small angora’s and don’t have the mane and regular coat they were supposed to (like mine!) So unless this is new and/or worsens, then I woulnd’t worry at all.
Your bunny is SOOO cute btw!!

My lionhead has almost no hair behind her ears either. As long as there is no flaking and she doesn’t seem to be itching then I’m guessing that you are fine!

When my lion head grooms, bending her neck down, all I see is her pretty pink skin! Definitely don’t worry about it. It’s my understanding that lion heads can lose their manes entirely as they reach adulthood anyway; it doesn’t make them any less cute and loveable, or any less healthy.

That’s good to know because it looks like Arthur hardly has one now, except his little fluff on top. I was thinking it’s because he wasn’t really a lionhead (though I know mom and dad were “pure”) and maybe someone had snuck in and had fun with mom  Now I’m just a little

Same with my Lionhead’s as well. Even ever so fluffy Toby is sparse behind his ears.

A Lionhead breeder had told me that sometimes they do lose their mane and/or skirt.

Your bunny is SO cute!!! eee!

My bunny is 7 months old and a week ago I noticed she has a pretty big hairless spot under her chin.  This is my first bunny, so I don`t really have much experience with this. Could you please help me and tell me what could be wrong? Should I take her to the vet? She was spayed a month ago. She is healthy, she eats well, she doesn`t nest or have fleas. A friend told me that there could be something wrong with her thyroid, so I removed any kind of cabbage and kale of her diet yesterday.
