Harvey is a typical boy. All he wants to do is eat, sleep, and hump.

Harvey used to be named Buzz Buzz. We thought this was kind of silly until about day 4 when he decided “o awesome! i live here now!” and got really, really comfortable. Buzz Buzz was derived from the buzzing noise he makes. The buzzing apparently means “stay right there, i’m going to have sex with you now”. He really doesn’t have ANY other interests. I’ve tried every kind of toy I can think of; the only ones he’s showed interest in are small stuffed toys that he can mount. and he is SO OBLIVIOUS to any reaction or redirection he gets. I’m glad Lyra is the most patient cat in the world – she whacks him on the head (no claws) when he tries to mount her, but he just thinks this is some fun game she’s playing. He doens’t react to being pushed off, walked away from, and noises mean NOTHING to him…. we think he may be deaf. He’s the happiest, sweetest rabbit I’ve ever met. He’s just also a sex offender.

I know – GET HIM NEUTERED! But does anyone have any idea what I can do while I’m saving up? Anything to make his life (and mine) a little easier!

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is much you can do except give him stuffed animals to take his frustrations out on until he’s neutered. Tell him no and direct him to his stuffed animals when he tries it on you guys. Hormones are pretty strong things in buns.

Neuter neuter neuter. That was a little song, in case you were wondering . Yeah, there’s not a whole lot you can do. This is actually why a lot of bunnies get abandoned, they have a ONE track mind. You’ll begin to look forward to that neuter day like it’s a Hawaiian vacation.

Have you thought about locating a low cost spay/neuter clinic in your area that does rabbits? I know that the surgery can get expensive, the one in my area that I’m taking my boy to on Friday charges less than $60, it may be worth looking into if you are wanting to stop the issue sooner rather than later.
