Has anyone noticed that their bunny is a little cranky on a “cecal” day? Charlie only leaves cecals every few days in his litter box but on these days he seems to be extra cranky and destructive. Has anyone else noticed a behaviour change in their bunny like this?

Not sure if that is a normal cecal type cycle but we have had him for a few months now and it seems to be the way it goes with him, so I am just going to have to assume at this point that it is normal for him.

Bunnies usually at their cecals, nightly. If he is leaving some in his box, it can mean that his diet is too rich. What is his current diet like?

I agree with MonkeyBun. It might mean something is off. Especially if you notice that Charlie is especially cranky, it could mean he’s uncomfortable. How old is he and what breed (if you know it)?

He eats mostly vegetables and only gets less than 1/4 cup pellets a day. He never really eats much hay at all and seems to be fine and a generall happy bunny all of the time except when he seems to have extra cecal days.

What kind of hay is he eating? He needs to eat hay, as it helps with the gut movement as well as teeth trimming. Some rabbits are pickier than others, and require trying out different types.
