Hey everyone – I am seeking some wisdom!  Our rabbit, George, has had wet sand-like poop since yesterday afternoon.  It started to solidify last night and he was eating normally (ate loads of lettuce and some sweet potato) but we woke up this morning to poo on his crate levels, on him, and he’s not responding to any food offerings (not even his potato; his ABSOLUTE favorite!).  I’ve given him some lettuce and am watching him like a hawk to see if he drinks any water, but we aren’t sure what triggered his problem as he’s not eaten anything unusual.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Should we make a trip to the vet?

If her has diarrhea, definitely take him in. Diarrhea can be a death sentence for a bun if not treated.

Also, you should stop feeding him potato, even if it’s his favorite. Potatoes are not good for bunnies

I would make a trip to the vet.

Usually true diarrhea is fatal in baby bunnies. It may be runny cecals due to dental problems or poor diet and if he’s not eating, there is something wrong with him.

Thank you for your help, ladies!

I called the vet a bit ago and the earliest we can get him in is tomorrow. He’s started eating (willow leaves) and is picking at his hay, so that’s a good sign. I’ve not seen him touch his water though . No more potato for him, either.
