Just wondering what’s actually normal for daily rabbit poo habits.  Sunny is litterbox trained.  I don’t always clean it first thing, but sometimes I do. If I don’t, I usually do it mid day.  A lot of times, after I clean the box, sometimes he doesn’t poo in there until late night.  Would you say this is normal and ok if it is his regular habit?

When should someone become concerned (time frame) when there are no poos?

Just depends on your bunny and what’s normal for him. Rupert-all poop all the time, it’s like the premium poop channel Kahlua is on the toilet more in the evening It’s great to know what’s normal for your individual bun so you’ll know when something changes

I clean my litterboxes in the morning. Sometimes it’s mid-afternoon before my mini rex gets up off his lazy bum and leaves a pile of poo in the litterbox. My holland lop uses it immediately after cleaning. I think it just depends on the rabbit.

Sounds normal to me. I only clean my boxes once or twice a week, but there is typically the most new poop in their when I wake up in the morning – during they day they spend a lot of time sleeping and not a lot of time using the litter boxes. Otto will go 12+ hours without pooping or peeing if he’s out in the living room and doesn’t feel like going back to use his litterbox, so that’s normal for him. I see Hannah go back more frequently to use the box.

Every morning I scoop out the urine soaked litter, dump the poos and hay (as I have it inside of the box on top of the screen).   I then add a scoop of new litter, and fresh hay.   This allows me to keep a close eye on poo habits and watch for issues.  Also, the fresh handfuls of hay make Vivian want to go in there and munch away and do her business.   She does do  little poo piles once  during the day, but her monster poo pile is done mostly in the evening or in the middle of the night.    Which is why I clean the box in the mornng.

I do a thorough cleaning — like the scrub kind about once a week.
