So I know we’ve only been on the antibiotics (baytril) a few days, but she seemed to feel so much better at first, then today we had a wee spot on her bedding again. She seems fine, but I was a bit distressed to see she’d peed somewhere other than the box so soon. She’d stopped doing that already and I was thinking it was over and done.

She’s on a 14 day course. Will it take the whole time to effect a cure, or should she stop having these ‘accidents’ sooner?

It could take a bit for the meds to work completely.

            It will take some time.
Antibiotics are indeed just that… a course. You need to complete them and be consistent for them to be effective.

I know a bun drinking extra water would help and I read somewhere (please let me know if this wouldn’t be a good idea) to fix the buns tea to get them to drink more liquid. I read that a flowered tea was a good one to use, like rose tea.

In people, often the first dose of medicine will make them feel better, and report less pain if they had any. But definitely it will take most of the course before everything will go back to normal I’m sure
                    {{Pip}} How’s she doing now?

Thanks everyone. She is still doing well, despite that she has some mushy cecals due to the baytril. She has realized now that when she takes her medicine quickly, a craisin or two is offered as soon as she swallows and she looks forward to that.
Still, I’ll be glad when we’re done with this stuff. She doesn’t appreciate the ear drops either, so that will be a happy day when we can drop them.

She’s also already eaten most of her new willow basket that I just hung up for her this weekend. I want to keep the hay off the floor/out of the litter box so she doesn’t sit in her own wee/poo that she always puts right on top of the hay.
