Yes, that word we all hate. I’ve been struggling with my lionhead Belle’s Pasteurella since I adopted her nearly a year ago. She’s been on and off Baytril which clears it up for a short time but then the sneezing and wet nose returns. It’s definitely a lot better than it was when I rescued her as at that time she literally had rubbed all the fur off her nose. But I just don’t know what to do anymore, I hear Pasteurella never truly goes away, the symptoms just subside and I feel so terrible because her nose is always wet and it looks pink and irritated (but no longer naked!). I just want her to not be sick anymore! Does anyone have any tips as to how to keep the symptoms at bay? I really hate using antibiotics and I would love to find a natural remedy or herb that could control the bacterial population and keep the symptoms tolerable. Not to mention, I know stress plays a huge part in Pasteurella flaring up and I don’t think frequent visits to the vet helps one bit. Has anyone had any luck with any alternative treatments? Or any suggestions at all?

Thank you in advance. I just want my poor baby to be healthy

I don’t have any advice… pasteurella is one of those things that just really sucks. And you’ve heard correctly, it never truly goes away. A cure has not been found for our bunny friends so far. But I will say that I’m here for support and if you ever need to talk, shoot me a message! I can’t imagine the emotional pain you’re going through. Hugs! -Jas

You should ask your vet what other medications that the sensitivity test suggested to see if you can try a different antibiotic than baytril.

Diluted eucalyptus x camphor oil thinly applied to the outside of the nostrils can sometimes help ease breathing (learned this from my veterinarian).
