I’m going to update this thread as I snap interesting pictures of interesting rabbits doing interesting things while I’m over there.  Once again, I have to show another new picture of Ash being all disapproving-afied.  As always, clicking on the pic will take you to his adoption page.

Here’s an old pic of him being grumpy and funny

And can you recognize this bun?

It’s LOVE DOVE!  All healed up.

She looks fabulous! Marcy is a Saint. Those 1st pics of her are still shock me but it is so nice to read how she is today.

I’m sort of shocked Ash is still there. Nobody has scooped up this adorable little bun yet?!

ETA: Oh Lord! I just looked at Buster.  The cuteness is never ending!

Oh goodness, I follow so many buns on SaveABunny — the buns there are so cute and look so loveable. And I’m so happy about Love Dove’s recovery.

Just finished delivering four buns to and from the vets to get their boy bits removed.  Not one of them looked happy to see me after the surgeries – can’t imagine why.

One of them though was Falkor (named him myself)- a bun I actually drove to Sacramento to pick up and then had to make other ‘rescue’ stops before we got back to SaveABunny – hence his name (click on his pic for the full story I wrote).  If you know someone who has been thinking about a bunny, this would be an ideal one.  He’s a bigger bun which means (IMO) he’s more calm whether being held or just petted and I think that he’d be an interesting bun to have about the house without having an over energized bunny.

I love that pose! ^_^ How on earth does Marcy get these shots? Amazing!

A bun that travels well. Hogeeze, don’t give me ideas…it’s a long way from California to Alaska, but he looks like he’d be able to manage it! ^_^

                        So another update from SaveABunny.

I got to take place in my first rabbit rescue.  Again, another person got two rabbits, didn’t get them fixed and we had to pull out 28 rabbits from a backyard enclosure (10 of which were under 4 weeks).  The hardest part was digging out all of the warrens to check for babies but having to do it carefully so not to collapse on anyone.  I would have missed one baby if it wasn’t for an experienced rabbit rescuer.  Oh, and for the record some cactus roots look like oversized, pale, yellow monster crab legs and when they pop out of a warren hole, they are able to make a 6 foot tall baritone scream like a saprano.

Here’s a couple of pics I took during the rescue.  I just got too busy trying to catch them to keep on documenting it.  (they were very ‘feral’ even though they were in someone’s back yard enclosure).

We currently have 4 of the teenagers, along with 8 teenagers from the Oakland rescue where the rabbits were being raised for food.  The only good news about the above rabbits that that only about 20% of them have red eyes.

But speaking of red eyed buns, Falkor (in a previous post) was adopted today.  He’ll be heading to his new home this week with a family of 4 and rather responsible acting children.  I’m a little sad because I never spent any time with him since I rescued him but that’s the way of the bun rescue.

Falkor is amazing! Look at all those beautiful rabbits. I wish people were more responsible.

LOL Mark I’m picturing you screaming.

They are beautiful, and I love REWs so 20% aren’t a lot actually. congrats on the adoption of Falkor. Looks like you will find a surrogate for your affection in this bunch asap.

Stories like this always remind me of this irresponsible former coworker who let her 2 bunnies breed in her back yard, then set the 6 babies “free”. In their neighborhood. I couldn’t stop her. What an idiot. We stopped discussing bunnies because she wised up enough to start a conversation with “I know you won’t approve but….” The stopped talking about it altogether. This can get so frustrating at times.

To adopt do you have to find one local to you (me)?

Usually SaveABunny will not adopt out of the area. They like to meet the person who’s going to adopt, talk with them for a while and so on. They like to know that they’re going to good homes and they fully understand everything. There have been some exceptions to this rule from time to time but it almost always still requires the person adopting to come to SaveABunny to talk with Marcy for a little bit and to pick up the rabbit. You’d have to call them to see if this is still in effect.

(is lol-ing at the thought of a squealing MarkBun)

Can’t blame you though…I hate anything that even reminds me of either a crab or spider. That sounds perfectly ghastly that you were finding those root systems there like that. Yikes. As long as one didn’t grab you around the ankle and try to drag you underground though…you’re fine. Might have a few nightmares though.

I’ve often wondered how in the world people do rescues where the bunnies are in a large outdoor area and they’ve made warrens. How can you be positive you’ve found all the babies?? It seems hard enough for some folks finding all members of surprise litters in their home. That’s got to be some seriously delicate work!

Congrats to Falkor for his forever home being found! ^_^ He seems like such a special bun.

So here is a picture of three of the four ‘toddlers’ we have from that rescue I went to – you know, the one where the cactus made me shriek?  They’re still pretty terrified of people but at least they’re healthy and seem happy.  Oh, the fourth you ocan just make out his ears on the right side.

And I wanted to show you this guy below – C-Lo (we named a lot of the food rabbit rescues after pop singers).

The reason he has such a ‘bad’ photo is that all he wants is attention and love.  You try to walk to the other side of the enclosure and he just follows you.  He’s always doing bunny flops, sometimes so hard that he flips completely over.  He is friendly, smart and what you would expect to be THE perfect pet bunny.  He still needs to be neutered so there are still a little potty issues but I’m sure, being a proper dutch, that he’ll become maticulous with them.  Also, I would say he’s an ideal candidate for clicker training or even rabbit agility courses!  If I could have a third, I’d not even be posting this.  Of course if he and Maryann got together, we would all be under their control within a year.

But would that really be so bad?

Oh, and on a side note – the people who were going to adopt Falkor backed out.  I’m somewhat crushed by this, especially that I’m thinking I jinxed it by mentioning it before he was actually picked up.

That’s so sad about Falkor. I was hoping he’d found his forever home. Don’t think it was you, Mark…these things just happen. I know, I get the same feeling when I post that Mimzy is getting better health-wise and then he suddenly goes south again. >.<

Gotta love C-Lo! ^_^ Gosh he’s gorgeous. I would be in competition for him if I were closer, he sounds excellent if I could have a 4th!

D’awwes @ the bebe bunnehs. What a cute bunch of sweeties!

I really, truly think, Mark, that it would do Maryann a world of good to have a new boy in the house. *takehimhometakehimhometakehimhome*

Looks like you get your chance to spend more time with Falkor after all. That he was almost adopted within weeks of arriving at SAB makes me think he’ll be going to the right home in the near future. Fingers crossed.

Same goes for C-Lo. He sounds like an adorable little guy. I love those complete roll flops!
