I have a potted english ivy in my apartment, well out of Zeus’s reach.  However, a dried up, dead leaf fell off it and onto the ground, and I didn’t realize it until it was in Zeus’s mouth.  I didn’t get to him in time to pull it out.  It was a small leaf, MAYBE the size of a quarter.  Is this going to be an issue?  I tried looking up if english ivy is toxic to rabbits or not, and can’t find a definitive answer.  I’m also not sure if a live plant vs dead leaf makes a difference?

A tiny leaf should be okay. Just watch him close to make sure he is eating/drinking/pooping properly

Yeah I’m bribing him with a few carrot chips and greens right now to get somethin in the belly right after he ate the leaf, just in case.

I *think* the dried leaves aren’t as bad for them. I’m certain my rabbits have eaten a few before. If he were to eat the whole plant then that’d be cause for worry but hopefully the one leaf will cause no harm to the big guy.

My bunny got ahold of my ivy plant while I was away!! She must have eaten between 10-20 leaves off the plant. She has been eating, pooping and peeing normally and shows no symptoms of illness. Is she going to be OK?

Hi Cookie’s Hooman and welcome to BB! One of the rules of the forum is to not bring up old posts because this causes confusion to our members. This thread is over 3 years old. It’s best to start your own thread so people will see it and hopefully answer your question quickly.

English ivy is listed as highly toxic, so advice from a vet is recommended. However, you did not say what type of ivy it is.

I’m going to lock this thread now. You can start a new thread if you need further assistance.
