My bunny Libby will be 1 years old in two weeks. She won’t eat carrots, lettuce, cilantro, spinach, parsley, broccoli, etc. basically no veggies!!! All she eats is Timothy Hay, Dry Rabbit Food, Bananas & of course her digestive pellets. I’m am a little frustrated with “Miss Thang” But Libby is going to get spayed soon, so i’m wondering will that change her eating habits in the future?

Some rabbits are picky – here is what I have to do at my house:

Stickers (female, mini-rex, spayed) likes her foods softer – soft hay, soft veggies, soft grass (she loves her pellets though). So for her she gets the robust / tender romaines, carrot shreds, softer apples, etc. Veggies must be chilled and wet.

Powder (male, REW, not sure on breed) – likes his food crispy. He gets the tender, crisp but not robust smelling romaines (he HATES smelly things). Carrots are given whole, apples must be the crispier kind. Veggies must be dry and if they are too cold, he won’t eat them.

            So I shouldn’t be worried?

As long as she’s eating hay and pellets, no… just keep offering her different vegs in different manners and eventually she’ll like something. You could try dehydrating some, she may like it better that way.

What is the dry rabbit food and what are the digestive pellets?

What amount of pellets are you giving her?

I would continue to offer veggies and greens. You may need to reduce amount of pellets- but I would not change her diet until after the spay and recovery. I would recommend also asking your vet about this too and how he evaluates her body condition.

Don’t give up on the veggies! There’s always some possibility. Rory won’t touch carrots or celery, but when I offered him parsley today he didn’t even hesitate before snatching it up and chewing away. He doesn’t seem impressed with the craisins, however. (Oh well, a pound and a half of craisins for me, then!).

I would give her different types of lettuce as the choice of greens to see if she eats one. Avoid Iceberg lettuce at all costs. But Romaine will taste differently to a bunny than green leaf or red leaf. My bunny loves Rom. but hates red leaf. Not surprising because the taste and texture is so different.
Also give carrot tops and sprigs of mint a try.

Just watch the amount of pellets that are filling. More hay, if anything.
