I just read a thread about wood stove pellets? Where do you buy them? I cannot use Carefresh in Tillie’s litter box because it gets all tangled in her fine, long fur. I bought some Yesterday’s News, but it is not really *that* cheap (I think I paid $20 for a 25 lb bag). Any other suggestions? Oh and I am thrilled that Tillie is 100% litter trained!! Yay!

At farming stores (called horse stall bedding), and at stores. For stores – it depends on the season, usually winter time. I got some at hardware stores.

I bought 5 bags for my 4 lb Netherland Dwarf, and I haven’t gone through an entire bag yet!

You’ve mentioned you are in Texas? A forum leader Sarita is also in Texas and pretty sure she has mentioned Equine Pine before. You could probably pick it where you’d get horse supplies.

I live in Texas as well and also volunteer at a guinea pig rescue!

Not exactly sure what part of Texas you live in, I’m in the D/FW area.  I use something called Lone Star Bedding.

I get it at D&L, here’s their website:

                http://www.dandlfarmandhome.com/pages/bedding.html

Lone Star Bedding does have a website, but it seems to be down…I like this because it’s super cheap at about $6 a bag and it seems to control better than anything else I’ve found.  I usually stock up when I pick them up because it’s a little out of my way and right now I have 6 rabbits and change litter twice a week.

I am in Fort Worth. Did you volunteer at Texas Rustlers? I fostered some piggies for a bit I will check the feed store, hopefully they will have some. Thanks!

I do volunteer at Texas Rustlers – I help in the store about once a month now – have you been to the new location? I think you will like the Lone Star Bedding. A little goes a long way and it’s super cheap.

I am sooo glad I read about the wood pellets. I ran to the feed store and got a 40 lb for $6! And the best part? When I clean out her litter box I don’t get knocked over by the urine smell. Actually all I smell is wood! Yay!! Thanks guys!
