I’m dropping him off at the vet in the morning. I took the day off work so I can be ready to pick him up when it’s time (I work afternoon – night, so otherwise it would be tricky). I’m a tiny bit nervous, but I know it’s what’s best for him. Other than trying to mount one of my cats, he doesn’t really have any behavioral issues, but hopefully this will help him stop doing that. He’s really good about using his litter box and he never ever bites. I feel like I’m so lucky to have such a good bunny, I almost worry that the procedure will make him behave worse.

Oh yes, neutering him will make him stop humping your cat What a naughty bunny.

A rabbit will be much more calmer after spaying/neutering. His hormonal behavior (the humping) may resume for about a month, as the hormones are still very high. It will taper off.

Chester is cute! I was nervous, too, when I took my little baby to be spayed. The vet called a few times with updates, which made me happy, but I was elated to get her back. I bet Chester will do just fine. He’s bound to be popular with the vet staff; they’ll probably dote on him.

Chester is home! Everything went well and he’s been eating and using his litterbox like nothing happened. I have to give him medicine with an eyedropper, which is not fun. But otherwise, everything is good, and I’m so relieved to have him back home with me.

I’m so glad I read this thread! It’s exactly why I came on the forum today! Miles is ready to get neutered and I’m making his appointment tomorrow.

You’re lucky Chester had no behavioral issues! I nicknamed Miles “Little Bunny CooCoo” and “Territorial Humper” because he went completely and utterly bonkers once bunny puberty hit. Started with some honking and nipping, then digging at my arms and trying to hump them (ignoring my attempts to transfer the urges to a teddy bear), then he started forgetting how to poop in any litterbox outside his cage, then he learned he was big enough to jump on my bed and couch which led to him feeling the need to pee all over both, even if he was only up there for a second before I scooped him up and moved him down.

                Hell. Ish.

Chester doesn’t seem to be drinking at all, since coming home yesterday. I have an appointment at the vet’s in about an hour to have them check him out. I don’t know what I’ll do if they want me to leave him and pick him up later. I have work at 2pm and my husband is going to be away all night so he can’t go get him either. Ugh… The good news is he has been eating and pooping, though not as much as usual. I’ve been trying to give him his veggies with some water on him, so he doesn’t dehydrate too badly.

Hopefully its something like his medication making him less thirsty! Hope he’s okay!

The vet said everything is fine and normal, and not to worry since he’s at least eating and pooping. She said his bladder is full and nothing seems to be blocked, so he might just be holding it since he’s nervous from everything going on.

My girl didn’t drink the first day either, I gave her wet greens to get moisture in her and offered her water from a bowl held under her nose. She was just too sore to be bothered. Her litterbox also just had a few droppings in it the first day. My vet warned me they tend to kind of shut down from the pain the first day or so. Hope Chester starts feeling better soon.

Update! Chester definitely seems to be feeling better. He is eating everything I give him now, and he seems to have an even more voracious appetite than he used to. This morning when I went to go to bed, I found that he managed to jump OUT of his cage and up onto my dresser (a 2.5 foot jump, which I closed off once he was put back). I’m pretty sure he was trying to get to his bag of “snackies”. I’ve let him out a couple times, and he puts up a fight when I try to take him out of the cage. I think he started associate leaving the cage with vet visits and medicine time. Once he’s running around he is SO happy though. He finished the medicine last night, so hopefully now that coming out just means play time, he’ll stop putting up such a fight.
