Samson doesn’t really play with me like I’ve seen on these videos on this site. I’m pretty sure she doesn’t like me She likes the kids and loves my fiance, but sometimes if I walk across my bedroom floor while she’s playing in there she charges and growls at me  I feel like I’m playing hot lava monster because  I have to jump up onto the bed or the chair. Is this how she plays or is she being hormonal? I’m the only one she does it to, she’s not lacking in anything and had a good bill of health about a week or 2 ago. How can I fix this??

That sounds hormonal. She was just spayed last week right? It takes time for those hormones to decrease.

My mini rex was a definite charger/growler. She was 3.5 pounds of female aggression… lol!

No, not spayed yet. We dropped HIM off and then turned around and picked HER up She’s too young still for a spay. Will she grow out of it?

The spay should help but jumping away from her onto a chair or bed is reinforcing the bad behavior – try putting on jeans and shoes before you go into her area so you don’t have to worry about a bite. Don’t let her boss you around or she may decide that she likes that she gets what she wants from you by being aggressive. Don’t be mean to her – but don’t give in either.

What I do with my female is if she charges me, I stand still and talk softly to her so I don’t spook her, but she knows she isn’t scaring me and I am NOT leaving her area just because she is being aggressive, instead she gets nothing but positive attention from me no matter what. If she nips me when I am doing something to her area, I tell her “no” (not yelling, just a firm voice) and gently move her head away from me. If she responds nicely to me afterwards, I give her pets and a treat. Important thing is to stay calm throughout it all as animals can sense our fear / anxiety.

There is the house rabbit society’s page on rabbit aggression. Useful tips.

Thanks Sticker, that’s perfect! I know with dogs to be the alpha, but I’ve read that bunnies are different so I don’t know what the heck to do It’s not all the time, usually at night when it’s time to put her back in her pen anyway. Off to read

I would definitely chalk this up to hormones then. I must have been thinking of a different member whose bun was just spayed recently. I think being firm is a good response. She could just be annoyed because she’s not done playing yet. When my buns are done doing their thing, they go back to their pen on their own accord. Does she do that if left out long enough?

Yep, definitely the hormones! I bet the spay can’t come soon enough for you guys 🙂
